The US version is apparently getting a reboot which made me nostalgic.
This is my favourite battle.

Yes, watched this all the time. A reboot would be interesting. I wonder if advances in cheap and compact microprocessors will allow some crazier stuff in 2015 version.

Robotica > Robot Wars
EDIT: Queued the video past the commercial

Probably not. People would just build high speed battering rams like Tornado and Storm 2 and it will just descend into boring sumo contests. The days of Razer, HypnoDisc, PussyCat and Wheely Big Cheese are sadly gone.

i remember watching this with my older brother. The bots that did nothing but flip other bots over always won. Lame

Man, I hated that show. I wanted to see Robots smash each other to bits not watch them slowly get lost around a track.

I loved Robot Wars, but I didn't think the US version was nearly as entertaining. It's been too long ago for me to remember why I thought that though. Probably the lack of Lister.

Aw man yes! This was my childhood!
I remember when they itnroduced the flipping robots that totally broke the metagame for a while.

Are we still talking about Robot Wars, or F1?

They smashed each other to bits at the end. And are you really telling me you didn't like the maze obstacle course?

Not really if I'm honest. I was just interested it the battles and in Robotica there was just to much stuff that didn't involve armor being shredded plus the American bots were really dull compared to the crazy stuff I was used to on Robot Wars (UK).

In the first few series of Robot Wars UK, Flippers were dominant but then people caught on that to meet the weight requirement they had really thin armour and with that they were done.

Fair enough. Maybe it's because I was involved in the FIRST Robotics program, but I liked that the robots in Robotica had to be versatile. Not only did they have to be able to destroy the opposing robot, but they had to be able to traverse varying terrain and navigate through/manipulate obstacles. That said, I disagree that Flexy-Flyer, UltraViolence, and Wizard of Sawz were boring.
